A DM Plant (Demineralized Water Plant) in a thermal power plant is a water treatment system designed to produce high-purity water free from dissolved salts, minerals, and impurities. This purified water is mainly used as boiler feedwater for generating steam in power plant boilers and turbines.
High-pressure boilers used in thermal power plants require extremely pure water. If untreated water is used, minerals such as calcium, magnesium, silica, and chlorides can cause scaling, corrosion, and deposits, which reduce efficiency and may damage critical equipment.
