What is A UF RO system
A UF RO system is a hybrid water purification setup that combines two different membrane technologies: Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO).
By combining them, the system offers a "layered" defense that handles both physical particles and chemical impurities more effectively than either alone.
How the Combined System Works
In a typical hybrid system, the water passes through several stages where the UF and RO membranes play distinct roles:
Stage 1: Pre-Filters (Multi media/Carbon filter): Removes large dirt, rust, and chlorine to protect the delicate membranes.
Stage 2: UF Membrane (The Shield): Acts as a physical barrier with pores around 0.01 microns. It catches bacteria, cysts, and suspended solids. In a hybrid system, the UF often acts as a "pre-treatment" for the RO membrane to prevent it from clogging (fouling).
Stage 3: RO Membrane (The Purifier): This is the most powerful stage, with pores as small as 0.0001 microns. It uses high pressure to remove dissolved salts (TDS), heavy metals like lead and arsenic, and fluoride.

It helps to think of UF as a microscopic sieve and RO as a molecular filter.
